Sun-n-Fun is underway and is one of the premier displays of airplanes and manufacturers in the world. It is underway this week (April 4 - 10) down at Lakeland. All who have been attending are generally filled with good stories of great times and excellent memories. This year should be no exception. A member forwarded a kick off story that is on the mind of all who visit large assemblies of airplanes and pilots. Smoke was spotted by spectators and heads turned in concern ... read on ... its not what you fear.

With spring aound the corner and most of us needing a bit of exercise and some fresh air. How does a trip to Dayton with a walk on the self-guided Aviation Trail sound? It might make for a nice afternoon or even a make a great alternative to one of our Sunday Chapter meetings in Waynesville. You can read a bit more in a recent article, but it would be nice to post a first hand account from a member on the website or in a newsletter? The visitor center is open daily from 8:30 to 5pm and is free. For addition information visit the website link above or call at (937) 225-7705.

Thanks to Mark Keener and his scrutiny of all things aviation, he spotted a video link on avweb of Larry Neal flying his Super Sky Cycle and forwarded it to me for our site. It will be at 'Sun 'n' Fun' this year and might be worth checking out. (I'm thinking about it and will snap a few photos) Also I've posted a little more information about Mr. Neal and his patented fly/drive vehicle here.

Inodyn expects to begin delivering production Turbines during the fourth quarter of 2005, with consistent production and deliveries beginning in 2006. Innodyn Turbines have a centrifugal compressor and a radial inflow turbine. They are direct spooled and feature digital computer control with a redundant analog system. Innodyn Turbines operate on several different fuels and require little regular maintenance. Running on a variety of fuels from diesel, kerosene, jet-a or even biodiesel, these small lightweight turbines could be the perfect match for your experimental aircraft.

Richard Elliot presented a program on tube fitting using software marketed by Steel Fabrication Software at our August chapter meeting. Dick indicated that this program minimizes the amount of trial and error fitting and mis-cutting of tube components. A 30 day demo version of the program is available from Steel Fabrication Software.

EAA284 Chapter Meeting: Guest speaker Frank Black discussed the many advantages of his unique "rotorcraft" designs and was pretty convincing that the ‘rotorfan’ jet aircraft will eventually be used in place of traditional blades found on helicopters, etc in improving vertical flight. .
